Ethan Squires had a lifelong love of music, earning the President’s Cup in 2020. Ethan loved to play for others, playing piano at retirement homes, his church and the local movie theater. He also played trombone for the UW Platteville Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Low Brass Ensemble, and he played guitar with his college bible study group. Ethan believed music should enrich others’ lives. This $500 scholarship is a tribute to Ethan, rewarding students who use their musical talents to make others’ lives better.
Ethan passed away in 2024 from complications from type 1 diabetes. You can learn more about Ethan at ethansquires.com. There are photos and videos (including him playing the piano), as well as a link to his service, which conveys the effect he had on others. Ethan made a bigger impact in 21 years than most of us will in an entire life.
